Gas Safety (CP12) — Commercial Catering
Annual CP12 across boilers, kitchen gas, and any LPG installations. Gas Safe number validated against the live register. Catering kitchen sign-off separate from heating sign-off — the certificates often need different qualifications.
Fixed-Wiring EICR (BS 7671)
Five-yearly periodic inspection. Nurse-call wiring, dementia-unit door magnets, kitchen circuits — domestic-style EICRs miss these. Use a contractor with the right NICEIC scope, verified at upload time.
Asbestos Management Plan
CAR 2012. Many older care homes retain ACMs in roof voids, boiler-room insulation, vinyl floor tiles. Survey register, re-inspection schedule, contractor competence checked before any planned works.
Fire Alarm & Emergency Lighting
BS 5839-1 for the alarm, BS 5266 for emergency lighting. Weekly call-point test, monthly function test, six-monthly engineer service for L1-rated systems (most care homes are L1).
Infection Prevention Adjacencies
